Crystal

Designing and producing a digital bonfire
‘Crystal’ is a path full of luminous rocks, interacting with pedestrians passing by. Each Crystal is wirelessly charged via a power mat. The path slowly fades in and out when no one is present, but once visitors start adding, moving or sharing Crystals, this breathing pattern of the Crystals changes. Passers-by are invited to take Crystals and give it as a romantic gift, as they will have to come back to the path to see it glow again. As an intern at Studio Roosegaarde, I was responsible for designing the interactions of the path and the physical shape of the crystals.

“ A digital, social bonfire to gather and share stories. ”

— Quotes from the design brief

“ Making light liquid, make it seemingly completely seperate from its hardware. ”
